John Roberts

Managing Director

John began his career at the BBC where he managed the daily internal monitoring service for senior management and programme makers.

After leaving the BBC John co-founded Mediagen in 2004. Mediagen was a specialised monitoring agency for companies in the Broadcast and Media sector. It quickly grew and developed a strong reputation for service excellence, providing monitoring and analysis services for a wide range of clients including ITV, Channel 4, Sky, BBC, Five, Guardian Media Group and Trinity Mirror.

Mediagen was acquired by Precise in 2010. John then joined Precise where he held the role of Business Development Director, managing a portfolio of key client accounts.

In 2016 John co-founded XY Media, and has already established this start-up as a leading quality alternative to the traditional, media monitoring and analysis providers in the UK.

Graham Spencer

Client Director

Graham started his career at the BBC, developing and delivering its internal media monitoring operation. In 2004 he co-founded Mediagen with John Roberts, where, as Client Account director his main areas of focus and expertise were servicing and developing key Mediagen client accounts such as John Lewis, Endemol, Manchester City and London 2012.

After Mediagen was acquired by Precise in 2010, Graham joined the Precise operation, heading up one of its client service teams.

In 2016 Graham became one of the co-founders of XY Media, identifying an opportunity in the UK Media Intelligence market for a provider of high quality Monitoring, Editorial and Insight services.

In his role as Client Director Graham takes the lead on delivering high level media intelligence solutions for XY Media’s UK client portfolio.

Greg Smith

IT Director

Greg has 15 years' experience of IT systems in the media monitoring industry. He led the implementation of the UK's first end-to-end digital production system with Xtreme News and project managed the development of digital services with Mediagen Ltd. Greg is responsible for all systems and product development for XY Media.

Mark Carrier

Managing Director - Insight

Mark brings over 20 years’ experience in the industry and has worked with senior leadership teams at FTSE organisations advising on communications effectiveness, reputation measurement and risk management strategies.

Mark has previously held senior roles at Precise as Director of Evaluation where he set up the media analysis operation and was instrumental in the early adoption of ground breaking technologies including the use of social media conversations for understanding brand perceptions and informing strategic decision making.

More recently at Kantar as Research and Development Director Mark established the corporate reputation practice, advising clients on how to integrate data from across functions and stakeholder groups to distil strategic insights.

Mark has been an active participant and thought leader in the communications research industry and for many years participated on the board of AMEC’s European Chapter, more recently contributing to AMEC’s Integrated Evaluation Framework
